1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and data generated by your use of the Service:

  • Account information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
  • Resume content: Work history, education, skills, job descriptions, and any other content you enter into the builder.
  • Payment information: Billing is processed by Stripe. We receive a transaction confirmation but never store your full card number or CVV.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, time on site, browser type, IP address, and referring URL — collected automatically via cookies and analytics tools.
  • Communications: Any messages you send us via email or support channels.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service
  • Generate your resume and cover letter documents
  • Process payments and send transaction receipts
  • Send service-related communications (account notifications, security alerts)
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve performance and features
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your resume content to train AI models. Your career information is processed solely to generate your documents.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with trusted service providers who help us operate the Service:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Anthropic — AI text generation (your content is sent to generate your resume; it is subject to Anthropic's API terms and is not retained for training)
  • Google Analytics — anonymized usage analytics
  • Railway — cloud hosting infrastructure

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ResumeForge, our users, or the public.

4. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and analyze how the Service is used. Types of cookies we use:

  • Essential: Required for the Service to function (session management, security).
  • Analytics: Google Analytics collects anonymized data to help us understand usage patterns. You can opt out via Google Analytics Opt-out.
  • Preferences: Remember settings like your selected template or plan.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect Service functionality. See Your Privacy Choices to manage your preferences.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and resume history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., payment records for tax compliance, retained for up to 7 years).

Anonymous, aggregated usage data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be used to identify you.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption in transit, hashed password storage, and access controls limiting who can view your information internally. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you by email within 72 hours where required by applicable law.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@resumeforge.co and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify registered users by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Your Data Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights over your personal data. We honor these rights for all users regardless of location.

Right to Access
Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you, including your resume history and account details.
Right to Correct
Edit or delete individual resumes anytime from My Resumes, or email us to correct other account details.
Right to Delete
Request deletion of your account and associated personal data. We process deletion requests within 30 days.
Right to Portability
Request a machine-readable export of your data (resume history, account info) in JSON or CSV format.
Right to Object
Object to certain processing of your data, including marketing communications. Unsubscribe at any time from any email we send.
Right to Restrict
Request that we limit processing of your data in certain circumstances while a dispute or inquiry is resolved.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@resumeforge.co with the subject line "Privacy Request" and describe what you'd like. We may verify your identity before processing the request. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Sale & Sharing Status

ResumeForge does not sell or share your personal information with third parties for monetary consideration or cross-context behavioral advertising. This applies to all users, including California residents under CCPA/CPRA.

✓ Opted Out

Marketing Communications

You can unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any marketing email, or by emailing support@resumeforge.co. Transactional emails (receipts, security alerts, account notices) are not affected by this preference.

Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. This data is anonymized and does not identify you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Delete Your Account

You can delete individual resumes yourself anytime from My Resumes. To permanently delete your entire account and all associated data, email support@resumeforge.co with the subject "Delete My Account" and we will process your request within 30 days.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not discriminate against users who exercise these rights. To submit a verified consumer request, contact us at support@resumeforge.co.

Virginia & Other US State Residents

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights.
